Bug Hotels!

As we wrapped up our Minibeast Inquiry unit, we thought about what we could do to help bugs and with Winter here, we thought it would be a perfect time to make bug hotels! Bugs can stay inside our bug hotels in Winter to keep warm and stay away from predators.

To make these bug hotels, we each had a cardboard tube and a couple of pieces of bamboo to put in them. We needed to find some other things to put inside so that the bamboo wouldn't fall out and to make other spaces for bugs of all different sizes.

Huge thanks to the whānau who came along to help us build our bug hotels!

Rata Whā have shrunk!

We have shrunk to the size of a bug! Yesterday we took our bug-sized pictures of ourselves outside to find nice spots to hang out. We imagined what it would be like to be an insect and we reckon everything must look gigantic to insects! Can you spot us in the photos?

We are writing about our bug adventure! Here are some of our wonderful finished stories:

Yesterday I got shrunk. I got shrunk on a rock and it was creepy.

Yesterday we got shrunk! I creeped outside. I-i-t w-w-a-s-s sc-sc-scary. I was about to screech, it was so scary. So I climbed a stalk and I screeched and I ran away. Then it was not so bad.
